Refurbishing on a grand scale in Chelsea
This technically demanding project entailed the excavation of a large double basement under the existing property which was itself extensively refurbished and further extended through the creation of a mansard loft. The refurbishment works required the complete removal of all internal walls whilst retaining the façade as well as the erection of extensive temporary works to facilitate the installation of a passenger lift from basement level to the loft along with a two-storey subterranean car-stacker. Finally, the team were also required to design and install a swimming pool in the lower basement level which was extremely challenging because of the risks associated with the local ground conditions and proximity to the water table.
