Contemporary style in South Ealing
The Hanging Gardens House was designed to ensure maximum efficiency of land use in housing development. The design aims to deliver a density of forty homes per hectare which is almost twice the average density of new-builds in England. The development comprises three family homes and two apartments and also incorporates landscaped courtyard gardens and extensive roof terraces.
Engineering design challenges associated with this project included a reinforced concrete frame with shear walls and flat slabs supported on piled foundations.
The design was one of only six short-listed for the 2015 Sunday Times British Homes Awards.
