Elite Designers were retained as structural consultants for the full refurbishment of the ground floor and mezzanine level of this busy office space.
Our brief entailed the design of a replacement for the pre-existing narrow walkway linking the mezzanine spaces. The new iteration is wider, built to current standards and coordinates with an elegant spiral staircase from Metal Works London.
Our walkway design visually minimises the balustrading and deck beams by utilising a slender steel hanger, transferring loads to an exposed steel roof beam. The balustrades appear ‘domestic’ in scale, though they are designed for the higher loads associated with a commercial space.
In addition, we supported with the design of floor strengthening and general structural alterations throughout.
